Six generations of hospitality
The history of Wildberg as a place of hospitality goes way back long before the first campers pitched their tents.
Even in the days of stagecoaches, travellers came to St. Lorenzen (San Lorenzo di Sebato) to visit Wildberg. The Wildberg Badl was renowned far beyond the borders of the Puster Valley. The magnesium-rich spring promised relief and recuperation, which is why so many spa guests travelled to St. Lorenzen (San Lorenzo di Sebato) to spend a few peaceful, restorative weeks here.
It was not only guests from the immediate vicinity but also aristocrats and distinguished figures who found their way to the Wildberg Badl. They travelled by horse and carriage to enjoy the soothing effects of the magnesium spring and spend a few restful weeks in St. Lorenzen (San Lorenzo di Sebato).
Our current stable also dates back to this period. This is where the guests’ horses were looked after and stabled whilst they stayed at the spa. Even today, the stable tells the story of an era when travel took time, carriages dominated the streetscape, and Wildberg was already a cherished place of relaxation.
Decades later, when Grandma Luisa and Grandpa Peppi created the first pitches for holidaymakers, they were continuing a long-standing tradition of offering people a place where they could arrive, take a deep breath, and enjoy the beauty of South Tyrol.
With Martina and Hannes, a new chapter in the history of Wildberg began. With great passion, vision, and tireless dedication, they continued to develop the campsite, shaping it into what it is today: a special place where nature, hospitality, and quality come together in a truly distinctive way.
Today, our daughters Anna and Katharina, our son-in-law Fabian, and the whirlwinds Victoria and Johannes are also part of your host family. We have always preserved the original, family-run character of Wildberg, whilst at the same time, bringing new ideas to life and developing the campsite with great passion.
